Constructors in Java

A constructor is a special member method which will be called by the JVM implicitly for placing user defined values instead of placing default values. Constructors are basically used for initializing the object.

Rules and Properties of Constructors

1. Constructor name must be similar to name of the class.

2. Constructor should not return any value, not even void.

3. Constructors should not be static since constructors will be called each and every time an object is created.

4. Constructors cannot be inherited.

5. Whenever an object is created Constructors are automatically called.

Types of Constructors

● Default Constructor

● Parameterized Constructor

Default Constructor

A default constructor is one which will not take any parameters and is automatically generated by the compiler if no constructors have been defined for the class.

Parameterized Constructor

A Constructor with arguments is known as Parameterized constructor.

A sample program with use of Constructors

    class Example
    Example() //non-parameterized constructor
    this(1);  //calling of constructor
    System.out.println("No Arguments");
	Example(int a) //parameterized constructor
		System.out.println("One Argument");
	public static void main(String[] args)
	  Example e= new Example();
