Object Oriented Programming System (OOPS)

 OOPS Model

Object Oriented Programming is a programming pattern where the logic is built around Object and Classes. Object could relate to any real world entity such as book, table, tree, Car etc. Objects may contain data in the form of fields or attributes and coding is in the form of procedures or methods. Most languages that are based on OOP concept use Classes. Objects are often called instances of class and they interact with each other during operation.

C++, Object Pascal, Java, PHP, Ruby, Perl, Swift, Scala, Python etc are some of the popular OOPS based languages. There are some basic properties of OOPS which define the concept perfectly:

Object

An object is the smallest entity and a software bundle that has state and behavior. Objects often relate with real-life objects.

Classes

Class is the blue-print of object. Classes define the state and behavior of objects. A class contains data members and functions of members.

Inheritance

Relationship among classes is defined by the property of Inheritance, where one class inherits all the properties and behaviors of another class. Lengthy codes or repetition of codes is thought of as a bad practice in programming. Inheritance helps the programmers to reuse code and thus save memory.

Polymorphism

Polymorphism is a Greek word which means having multiple forms. Polymorphism is the property which help objects behave differently depending on their data type or class. It also help redefine methods for derived classes.

Abstraction

Abstraction is the process of showing only the part which is important for the user and hiding other unrelated information. This method reduces complexity and increases efficiency of the program. More complex details which are not required to be seen by the user are hidden.

Encapsulation

Encapsulation is the technique of binding together the data and functions that are needed for alterations in the objects. This also help keeping the data safe from outside interference and misuse. Encapsulation also defines the concept of data hiding.
